Q. Cannot connect with ftp settings, I have default location set to /
A: Most Hostgator customers need to change default location from / to /www/
Attention: Hostgator Reseller / Shared Account Users:
You may find when entering your ftp details in the software you have connection issues, this is because if you look at it on the FTP persepctive lets say in filezilla is you can only access each addon through the root domain itself meaning I connect to lets say http://ftp.root. and then all my addon domains appear in that FTP structure, you cannot access in filezilla each website individually so this is also making an issue on the connection part. So the way around this is the username must be thedomainname @ rootdomain.com so if you get stuck you can try that and it WILL resolve your connection issue.
